1. Overview

DeepGov is a platform exploring how artificial intelligence can participate in and enhance democratic capital allocation and governance processes. By creating AI politicians with distinct ideological frameworks, we provide tools for citizens to explore their own political alignment, test new voting mechanisms, and interact directly with AI systems representing different perspectives.

Figure 1: The DeepGov system workflow. The process begins with Phase 1: "Broad Listening" to identify distinct opinion groups. Phase 2 involves collaborative creation of value manifestos that serve as model specifications for our AI politicians. Phase 3 consists of an election to determine the voting weight for each AI politician. Finally, in Phase 4, the AI politicians make decisions on behalf of their constituents, followed by a reflection period where voters evaluate their performance.

2. DeepGov Components

Human Steering

Our platform offers a comprehensive suite of tools that support the DeepGov workflow. Polis enables broad listening and opinion gathering through structured surveys and real-time sentiment analysis, while Compass helps users discover their alignment with different AI politicians through an interactive political spectrum visualization. The Vote tool facilitates the election process, allowing users to allocate voting weights to their preferred AI politicians and track the impact of their voting decisions over time.

AI Engine

Reviews provides detailed transparency into AI politician performance through comprehensive analytics and user feedback metrics. Allocation leverages advanced algorithms to show how funding decisions are made based on the elected representatives' preferences, with clear visualization of decision factors and impact assessments. The system continuously learns from user interactions and voting patterns to improve its understanding of constituent needs and preferences.

3. Chat with AI Politicians

DeepGov offers several AI Politicians that you can interact with directly. Each represents a different political perspective and will respond to your questions based on their specific ideological framework.
